Connect HubSpot to Claude Code

Work with BTT's HubSpot CRM through Claude Code in 3 minutes.

Who this is for

Anyone at BTT who works with the CRM: contacts, deals, tickets, companies, notes. Time needed: about 3 minutes. Requires SOP 0 (Claude Code installed).

What this does

After completing this SOP you can ask Claude things like:

  • Find the HubSpot contact for jane@example.com and show me their open deals and tickets.
  • Add a note to the deal XYZ -- Managed SEO saying I had a call with Jane today.
  • List all open tickets owned by Hayley.

Step 1 - Open the Connectors panel

  1. Open Claude Code.
  2. Type / then connector and click /connector.

Step 2 - Connect to HubSpot

  1. Find HubSpot in the list and click Connect.
  2. Sign in with your @bristechtonic.co.uk account in the browser window.
  3. When HubSpot asks to allow Claude to access your account, click Connect app.
  4. HubSpot shows as Connected in Claude.

Step 3 - Test it works

Use HubSpot to find the contact with email chris@bristechtonic.co.uk and tell me their lifecycle stage.

Claude should return Chris's contact details. If it does, you are done.

Important rules when using Claude with HubSpot

Do

  • Use @mentions correctly. When adding a note that should ping someone, write @FirstName (e.g. @Chris please review). Claude will format it as a real HubSpot mention that triggers a notification.
  • Be specific. Find the deal for Cornish Mutual is better than find that deal we did last month.
  • Verify before confirming. When Claude says it is about to update something -- read what it plans before you confirm.

Do not

  • Do not bulk-edit without explicit confirmation. Double-check before Claude updates 50 contacts in one go.
  • Do not store passwords or sensitive info in HubSpot notes.
  • Do not delete contacts, deals, or tickets via Claude. Deletions should be done manually in HubSpot UI by Chris.
