How BrisTechTonic Decides Canonical Tags For A Page

What the skill does: Scrapes a URL's current canonical setup. Checks for conflicts (canonical + noindex, multiple canonicals, broken targets). Detects cannibalisation — two or more pages on the same domain ranking for the same keyword. Diagnoses one of GOOD / MISSING / WRONG_TARGET / SHOULD_CANONICAL_AWAY / CANNIBALISATION. Outputs exact paste-ready canonical tag plus per-CMS implementation notes (Wix / WordPress / Shopify / HubSpot).

Why it matters: Canonical tags are the single most common cause of 'the wrong page ranks', 'this page won't index', and 'two URLs splitting our authority'. Most teams set self-referential canonicals on every page and stop there. That misses cannibalisation entirely.

What's new: Cannibalisation detection uses GSC truth data (which URL actually gets impressions), not theory. Per-CMS implementation notes so the recommendation is actionable, not abstract.

Use cases: Why-isn't-this-ranking diagnostic. Post-migration audit. Pre-launch checklist on new pages. Multi-language site audit. Sitewide canonical-strategy review.

Constraints: 200-400 words, UK English, no em dashes, no client names, generic example.
