What Schema Markup Does And When It Matters
What schema markup is
Schema markup (also called structured data) is code you add to your website that gives Google extra, structured information about what's on the page. It doesn't change what visitors see — it's a layer of additional context that only search engines read.
What it does
Schema helps Google understand your content more precisely. Rather than inferring whether a page is about a local business, product, or event — you tell it explicitly. When done well, schema can unlock rich results: star ratings, FAQ dropdowns, price information, and event dates showing directly in search results.
Common schema types we implement
- LocalBusiness: Name, address, phone, opening hours.
- FAQ: Expandable Q&A directly in search results.
- Review / AggregateRating: Star ratings in results.
- Service: Describes specific services offered.
- BreadcrumbList: Improves how your URL path appears.
