Why Am I Not Appearing When I Search For Myself?

First: the results you see may not be typical

Google personalises results based on your location, browsing history, and previous searches. If you visit your own website regularly, Google may show you higher than you actually rank for a typical new customer.

How to check your rankings accurately

Use an incognito/private browsing window and make sure you're not signed into a Google account. This removes personalisation. Better still, use a rank tracking tool — which is what we do as part of our reporting.

Common reasons for genuinely not ranking

  • Your page isn't indexed yet — new pages can take days to weeks to appear
  • You're checking a keyword you're not optimised for
  • The competition for that keyword is stronger than your current authority
  • A technical issue is blocking the page from being indexed

What to do

Check Google Search Console — the URL Inspection tool tells you whether a page is indexed and when it was last crawled. If you're not ranking for a keyword you expect to, bring it to your next monthly meeting.
